Comments:

Sort of disappointed, but not too much. If you check out my 2005 stats - i have only swum 800 yards this year, total! hahahahaha. (in april or so, i might add). Much slower than my pace at the Triangle last year, but I felt good about the swim. No rhythm, breathing, or navigation problems. Just a smooth, slow, and steady swim. I was actually able to run off the beach! (unlike the Triangle last year, when I trudged slowly up the beach :))
What would you do differently?:

had a bite of luna bar and drank a bit of water in between, i think this was a good move.
Bike
  • 47m 18s
  • 12.5 miles

Comments:

Bike felt great - i was surprised! i actually do like to bike, i need to just work on getting those quads of steel. Felt good, I have learned a lot more about how to bike since last year's bike fiasco, and my cadence and speed all felt good. I was actually able to spend about 60-70% of my time in the drops too, instead of the hoods. I am amazed at how much of a difference that makes. I also made a great effort to drink more water than usual (i always tense up when drinking water), and i actually drank like half my bottle.
Transition 2
  • 03m 16s
Run
  • 36m 47s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

For the first mile (this is from not ever doing bricks, i suppose), my legs felt like lead. my strides were sooooo short, my quads were too messed up to pull and my butt was too messed up to push. so my strides were like 4 inches long. haha. But after about a mile i loosened up and got better. The nice thing is that my lungs never felt bad, and i actually felt like i could keep running the whole time. And i DID! i know i sucked compared to everyone else, but this is a massive improvement for me.

The other good thing is i know i must have done my hydration correctly because my mouth wasn't bone dry when i was running, i noticed this and it makes a big difference in my breathing too.

Event comments:

I really had fun, and the pizza afterwards really hit the spot. They ran out of our free beer though!!!
