Swim
Comments: My swim was faster than I anticipated but I never once got into a good rhythm. Once I got kicked in the face I got distracted. I didn't remember my stroke technique, didn't sight well which caused me to veer off course slightly, and it took me until the final buoy to finally get some kind of cadence going. I at least felt decent coming out of the water. I was not shakey or wobbly. What would you do differently?: Practice OWS more. Transition 1
Comments: T1 is a blurr. Wetsuit was hard to get off, I was clumsy putting my socks and shoes on. What would you do differently?: Practice. Be more mindful rather than just trying to fly through. My T1 time was uber-slow!! Bike
Comments: My bike was slow and my legs burned but my lungs felt great. I tried to save my legs for the run but was getting pssed big-time so I didn't want to slow down too much. It was evident that I didn't train enough on the bike! What would you do differently?: Train more on the road definitley! Transition 2
Comments: I needed to slow down here and take some time. Did not think to get helmet off while running to my area. I almost forgot to take it off. I didn't drink enough on the ride and didn't drink more than a sip of water in T2.Shame on me!! What would you do differently?: Hydrate! Run
Comments: Holy cow my legs were shakey and burning much more than I thought they would. I thought I was better prepared than I actually was. That was disappointing. My run was really slow and it seemed to take about 2/3 the way to get any kind of feeling/cadence in my legs. I needed to walk in the start of the running course to get my HR down. What would you do differently?: More actual brick training, more hill training to build strength and increase frequency of training runs. I concentrated too much on swimming because I felt I was weakest there and hadn't had much swimming experience. Post race
Warm down: Walk around to get normal breathing/lots of stretching. My legs were TIGHT! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of proper training. I didn't ride my bike on the road and did mostly indoor training. I needed to increase run frequency and do more brick training. I am overall happy with my time. I did the race faster than anticipated so I am pleased. I felt it was a good first triathlon. Event comments: An All women's event was a good first time event. All the women were encouraging and many of them inspiring. I felt great after and am looking forward to doing another. Last updated: 2005-08-06 12:00 AM
