Swim
Comments: Little choppy due to the wind so there were about 6 inch chop. Never really found feet to draft off and seemed like that's all I was doing was searching. Future-don't worry about drafting so much, just swim. Not a crowded swim given the TT start (nice). What would you do differently?: Wish wetsuits were legal, first OWS without one and boy, what a difference the suit makes for comfort (buoyancy) and speed. Transition 1
Comments: Socks and shoes in T-1, still a comfort zone for me to not have to worry about wrecking trying to get me shoes on at speed. Didn't rush it, felt ok overall. What would you do differently?: Maybe try no socks/shoes but hey, for the comfort and since I'm nowhere close to top of AG, the extra 15 seconds is worth it for me. Bike
Comments: The first 7 miles were fun, just kept zipping by the BOP sprinters, in/out/in/out. Didn't get passed too often and mostly they had go-fast wheels.... Poor guy around mile 18 was changing a flat. For last mile, geared up and spun a much higher cadence without pushing it. The legs didn't feel like bricks when I got off the bike, probably cost about 10 seconds with the speed but was happy to be fresh. What would you do differently?: Not consume so much water. I was concerned about overheating and underhydrating. Took too much liquid between mile 17-24 that I really paid for it on the run (slosh/slosh) Transition 2
Comments: Took a couple extra seconds to catch my breath, water again. (Stupid) What would you do differently?: reduce water intake Run
Comments: Got a nice comfortable pace with Brian #120 at 7:30 for the first 2.5 miles then the overconsumption of water caught up with me. So from mile 3.5 to finish was mix of run/walk/walk. A little disappointed since that is 7 minutes slower than PTC Oly run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Fitness level for the run. Either woke up too early, get a hotel the night before for races >1.5 hours from the house, or train with Bricks more. 2nd Oly so happy about that. Still learning and having fun doing it. Event comments: Great course and location. Volunteers from Atlanta Tri Club were super friendly. Keep in mind parking is about 1/2 mile to transition so plan on making 1 trip. Woke up too early, not sure how far the drive was. From Acworth, took just shy of 2 hours. Bowl of cereal.
Didn't realize parking was so far from transition so didn't take anything with me for packet pick up then jogged back to car, rode back to Transition. Short 30-45 second swim to get used to water, that's about it.
