Swim
Comments: First, we had to wait a very long time to get started. Second, there were way too many people starting at the same time in such a small space. I'm surprised nobody drowned. I started out okay for the first 100 yards, except for all the elbows and kicking, which hampered me from getting into any type of a rhythm. I had to swim like a water polo player with my head up in order to see where I was. Unfortunately, I was stuck in a group and couldn't get out so I turned over and did a few backstrokes in order to relax, which helped me to finally catch my breath and finish. What would you do differently?: Not sure if it's better to start on the outside and stay out of the middle or what? 140 people in a very small space is not good for your avg swimmers. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Got out to a good start, but my legs felt a little heavy. I had a good bike ride for a change, but I definitely should have gone a little faster. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Not in any hurry so everything was smooth. Run
Comments: My daughter ran with me which kept me from thinking of how much my back was hurting. She actually kept me going. Post race
Warm down: Walked, stretched, and drank a lot of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: My swim was terrible. Event comments: As noted above, they need to stage the swim start when there are so many swimmers. Despite that, I enjoy this event and plan on coming back. There were lots of volunteers who were very friendly and cheerful, easy check in, and the people in the race (competitors) were very supportive. Very organized race. Last updated: 2009-05-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 0515 hrs; breakfast consisted of a plain bagel and some Ensure Wild Berry. A cup of coffee for the hour and fifteen minute drive to San Dimas. No traffic (or CHP) made the drive enjoyable. Check in was very organized.
Stretching, followed by some time in the water prior to my wave.
