my goggles broke right before the swim so i had to run up to the transition area and get my second pair - definitely not as good as my broken ones, but they worked. only problem was they fogged up really bad on me so it was hard to see the buoy.

my bag with my spare tubes and co2 cartridges was open when i started and all my stuff fell out in the first ten yards - i had to stop and pick it all up and then get back on the bike to get going - it was rather frustrating!

i didn't eat very well the night before or morning of the race and i paid for it on the second lap around the lake - i had no energy left and after the race i was scarfing down everything my wife had - cookies, granola bars, apple, etc.
What would you do differently?:

eat better!

there was no food at the end of the race, nor did they have finishers' medals. i was mostly dissappointed with the lack of post race refreshments - only a couple coolers to get water from, nothing more.
