Swim
Comments: Time is just an estimate, but this was the best navigation job I've ever done in a tri. I was able to comfortably see all the buoys without having to slow down much. What would you do differently?: Nothing really - we caught the slower guys from the first wave right at the first buoy which was really the only traffic I had to contend with. this race provides much more room to swim than most. Transition 1
Comments: Again, just an estimate on the time. I didn't have any realy problem with this T1. It was a pretty good distance from the lake to the bike racks, so time for T1/swim would vary depending on where timing maps were placed. What would you do differently?: Had a little bit of trouble clipping in, but didn't really lose any time over it. Bike
Comments: First three miles were tough - I was huffing on a couple of the hills. I still get passed by way too many people on the bike. I didn't count them, but there were plenty - maybe 25 or so? I passed a few people, but not nearly as many as passed me. What would you do differently?: Still have the problem of not enough hill training. All that being said, 18.5 MPH is pretty fast for me. Transition 2
Comments: Another estimate on time - but it felt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I passed quite a few people on the run and wasn't passed by anyone, so I was happy with that. I did get out-sprinted up the hill. I passed a guy right at the last turn (he sort of waved me around him) and then he started sprinting and we were both in an all-out sprint the entire way up the hill. It hurt a lot and he stayed about 3/4 step ahead of me most of the way. I was bummed that I couldn't quite poull ahead of him. I congratualted him afterwards and he was a very nice guy. I felt a little better when I saw the results and learned that he was younger than me and started in wave 1. I wished they would have marked everyone - I am almost positive they did it last year. What would you do differently?: Nothing - the sprint at the end helped better my finish time even though it hurt a lot! Post race
Warm down: Stretched a bit - tried the new "calorie burning" soda and thought it was nasty. Then hit the road. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing - weather was ridiculous and helped all of us! Event comments: I like the race a lot - if they add timing chips, it will be even better. I don't mind that the post-race stuff is below par, I'm there for the race anyway. Last updated: 2009-05-27 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:15am and ate an english muffin with peanut butter and a banana. Left the house about 6:15 and sipped some G2 on the way down.
No warmup, just signed in, walked around and stretched a little bit.
