Got up at 5:25am, had breakfeast one egg hard boiled, english muffin with peanutbutter and honey, and an bosst drink. I was hungry on the run,try to eat a little bit more around 7:00 or so matbe a banana. Left the hotel around 6:30 (good time) got a good parking spot both with my car and bike.
Set up my gear and had some time to take it easy. Did not have to rush. before the race took an 5hr enrgy shoot.

Comments:

This year I change my swim time, for my cap color I moved up one spot from last year 36-38mins. Had a good swim, I moved over to the right when going into the water, not a bad place to be but their were some rocks, it was not to bad. Felt good on the swim, felt that I was strong and had a good stroke. 1st split time was 16:48, 2nd part of the swim went well, felt good. stayed on the out side not to many swimmers.

Comments:

My bike went Ok, nothing to great, i known I wasn't going to break any records. Went well for the 1st 20km light winds, avg speed was around 30.5km/hr,after Millbrook had that one hill, still felt good, I saw Kevin at the 38km mark about 10min's ahead of me. Turn around went ok, hoping to have some tailwind behind me to help, but no such luck,it was more of a cross wind into me. still felt ok on the bike I was slowing down a little bit. Nothing to bad. the last 15km or so started to feel it on my legs. The last 8km on the bike was hard into the wind after getting off baseline going north. I was ready to get off the bike. 1:31.10 split 1:25.29

Comments:

Great run, very happy with my time. It did not start off great my 1st km was slow, I had to stop once about 700m into the run, my legs were sore from the bike. took a few steps and started to run again, after that started to get my legs back, everything went good. Had a good pace going at the 3rd km mark Run pace was around 5:35. I knew I can hold that pace for my run.So for the next 5km I did, Up tp the 8km mark my fastes split was 5:17. At hte 8km mark I had to go Pee, so I stopped I lost maybe 25/30sec, but I felt much better after that. I was slowing down abit maybe 15/25sec per Km, but i knew I still had a good time going, My goal at the 5km was to be under 5:45min's. 10km mark still was going strong, but I felt that I was hungry, so I stop drinking did not want it to slush around in my stomach. At the 18k I was hungry now, I had to walk a few time, I needed food. But I kept on pushing I still had the 5hr45 goal to reach. 20k I was walking more, but I knew the finish line was around the corner.
I saw the the finish line so I sprinted to the finish line. to make my 5:45 which I did.
Post race
