Comments:

there were more people in my wave than I had seen before and wasn't quite ready for the chaos I couldn't seem to work through the slower swimmers but didn't feel anybody coming up behind me
What would you do differently?:

think about starting near the front rather than the back of the pack
Transition 1

Comments:

the cheap plastic strap from the timing chip broke and if it weren't for a kind sole I would have lost the timing chip. i picked it up and stuck it in my shorts.

My times are from my wristwatch so they may not be 100% accurate but they are pretty darn close.
What would you do differently?:

Buy a neoprene timing chip strap.

I put body glide on the back of the heel cup but should put some on the tongue to make it easier to slide my feet in with wet feet. I had practiced getting my feet in before hand but never with wet feet. Go figure.

Comments:

great flat course! I was able to open it up an crank through the course. I played position tag with three other racers but finished strong. There a couple of croweded corners but it felt great to move through the corners at speed with other racers. It could have seemed a bit crowded but I thought it helped make the race feel like a "real" race instead of a solitary period of reflection and suffering.

I shot a gel packet coming up to the hill on the way back in
What would you do differently?:

I think I could have pushed a little harder on the bike but felt like I needed to hold back for the run.

I am going to look at an aero bar bottle and or at least not carry as much water
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

First time trying to put my feet into shoes already connected to the pedals. I have Sidi racing shoes with the ratchets and they are probably not the best for easy entry exit but I managed. This was a good course to practice putting shoes on and taking them off since there was the no passing zone with the speed bumps.
What would you do differently?:

Waited longer to get out of my shoes.

Comments:

I am a terrible runner. 'Nuff said
What would you do differently?:

stretch out my stride sooner
Post race
Event comments:

great event with lots of participants. the post event was first class but I wasn't brave enough to scarf down a bratwurst at 9:00 in the morning after racing my guts out.
