Overall Rank = 29/697
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

coffee and some fig newtons. To early for Mcdonalds. In hindsight I should probably have ate a little more.
Event warmup:

1 mile jog.
Swim
  • 35m 37s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started in ninth wave and did a LOT of weaving around other swimmers. Pretty high waves but at least the lightning held off until we were on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Need to improve sight breathing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Not a bad transition. Cutting my wetsuit legs down a little has made a huge difference.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 2h 34m 7s
  • 56 miles
  • 21.80 mile/hr
Comments:

Decent bike time for me even with the monsoon blowing through at halfway. Felt like you were riding through a waterfall. I don't think it slowed me down at all but it sure made the riding a little trickier.
What would you do differently?:

Bring an umbrella.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Transition was a little slow because I spent time putting wet socks on. I didn't think my feet would hold out going sockless.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 1h 25m 8s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 06m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

Okay, I need to eat more. Before and during. I've never ate during a race before (I don't even like gatorade) but I learned a lesson today. I didn't eat much for breakfast and I managed to eat a couple of gel tubes during the bike (yuck)! Felt great for about seven miles and then I crashed. Pace dropped from an easy 6:20 to a hard 7:00. Felt as bad at the end as I have ever felt.
What would you do differently?:

Eat more and get some electrolyte replacements. Wish I could find something that wasn't sweet. I can't stand sweet things when I'm running
Post race
Warm down:

Staggered to my car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. Good race overall.

Event comments:

The weather was pretty crazy but a well organized race.
