![]() Swim
Comments: I need to practice sighting bad. I was off course so much I'm pretty sure I added at least 100 yards to this swim. Overall I felt 100x better than I did after my first olympic getting out of the water, but I dreadfully need to gain some speed. What would you do differently?: Practice sighting, and get in some "open water" swims at barton springs pool. All the time I gained everywhere else was negated by my terrible swim performance. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Felt great on this transition. Just about a minute quicker than captex which I contribute 100% to feeling more comfortable out of the water. I wasn't gasping for breath so I could run in and out of T1 (guess I didn't swim hard enough?) What would you do differently?: I wish it would rain prior to the auditorium shore races cause the dust is crazy. With the length of transition there's not incredible amounts of time to be gained here. ![]() Bike
Comments: Obviously bike isn't my limiting factor. What would you do differently?: Not much, actually felt pretty good on the bike and that I took in the right amount of fluid, and didn't take my gel too early after getting out of the water. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Felt good, cut over a minute off from last time. What would you do differently?: Not much time here either with the transition area size. ![]() Run
Comments: I dunno what my deal is. My legs felt okay, but my breathing was horrible. I dunno if I just don't have the fitness at this point or what. I wasn't cramping up or anything and my stomach felt great, I just couldn't keep moving. Maybe I just need to htfu or something. What would you do differently?: Run more, lots more as usual. I need to htfu and sign up for the feb marathon which should definitely help with the run fitness. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Ate some food, drank some recovery drink, met a few ppl from BT and met up with some friends doing the sprint. What limited your ability to perform faster: The terrible swim, and the run still not being where I want it to be. I did PR the distance by 57 seconds tho haha. The gains I made in the bike run and both transitions were negated by the swim unfortunately. Event comments: Best race I've done so far organization wise. Great schwag and post race activities included a beer garden, live band, ice cream, and they let us leave with our bikes relatively quickly which was nice. Last updated: 2009-05-29 12:00 AM
