Poridge before race (2hrs before). No gel before swim. Forgot wetsuit and sunglasses - should remember these next time!

What would you do differently?:

Could maybe have swum quicker.
Should have stuck on the buoys marking the course.

Long transition - 300m from water to transition area.
Felt like I was cramping up (calves) from the swim to the bike, but bike was fine (and no sign of cramp).

Drank approx 500ml of gatorade per hr.
Ate approx one gel per 40-45mins.
Big tumble at aid station at 78km -don't try and pick food up at high speed on tri-bars.
Spent approx 5mins recovering at aid station (scrapes down left arm, brusie to ribcage on LHS, winded)
What would you do differently?:

Not fall over!

Hard to run - first 3km really tricky (both getting legs and also breathing because of ribcage hurting).
Generally a very slow run - was aiming for 2hrs or below (which is probably achievable).
Frequently stopped and walked through all rest stations - need to work on not doing this!

Warm down:

Did some stretching - quads felt fine, calves were tight

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Crash, swimming ability, first 3km of run, could have gone harder on the bike

Event comments:

408 out of 858 starters. Beaten by Smarty (2mins), Ets (11 mins) and Craig (50mins)! Mainly due to poor run.
