Swim
Comments: Never swam in a crowd before and was easily distracted by getting run over or trying to get around zig-zag swimmers. Water away from the shoreline was much warmer. What would you do differently?: Ignore swimmers behind me and be less concerned about incidental contact. Transition 1
Comments: Somewhat dissoriented and light headed getting out of the water and up to T1. Spent 5 minutes wrapping a calf injury sustained 10 days before the race. What would you do differently?: Don't try to put arm warmers on while runnig with bike... and don't get injured during taper. Bike
Comments: rode conservative first half, didn't attack hills until mile 15. Calf started to tighen up last few miles. What would you do differently?: More hill training and more long rides. Transition 2
Comments: too slow getting in to T2. Run
Comments: Serious calf pain on first hill - needed to walk up. next 2 miles were difficult but improving. Finally relaxed into a more normal stride by mile 3, pushing hard the last 2. Never would have been able to run if I didn't have my calf bandaged. Spending the time in T1 to wrap it enabled me to finish. What would you do differently?: aviod injury Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: calf injury and feeling intimidated by the cold swim. Event comments: Awesome first Tri. Last updated: 2009-05-30 12:00 AM

PB&J 2 hours before start.
A few minutes of light jogging mostly to relax then suit up and take a dip - man was that ever cold!
