Pre-race routine:

Had grape nuts for breakfast, and a granola bar for a snack about 45 minutes before the start. Got up at 6:15, loaded the truck and picked brother up. Eventually found a decent spot in transition and laid out my gear. Talked with a lot of friends and didn't let nerves get to me. Took 1000 mg of IBuproffin and two capsules of pepto bismal.
Event warmup:

Short bike ride to transition, and some jogging in transition area for warm up. Felt the tendon in my foot start to act up so I stopped and let it rest.

Comments:

Got caught in the the "washing machine" to start. Had more difficulty sighting than I have in my past few races. Got beached at one point and had to make a quick course adjustment.

Had some difficulty getting my wet feet in my shoes causing me to strain my shoulders. Was out of breath after trying to transition so quickly.

Comments:

I was out of energy and my legs felt heavy to begin the run. I stopped long enough to sip a little water and really felt like I was struggling with the run. I have about 4 age groupers pass me. In the end I missed two or thress places by less than a minute.
What would you do differently?:

I was overtraining going into the race. In my attempt to get ready for a half iron man in August I didn't take enough rest in preparation for this race.
