Swim
Comments: Good swim for me. I tried hard to draft but felt that I had to be extremely close not to lose the draftee. I tried to draft on a couple of guys but I kept losing them and it didn't seem that they were too fast, I just lost them. I was ok with my time and feel that I can get it down pretty easily with more swim time. What would you do differently?: Site better and practice siting more. Transition 1
Comments: This was bad. I fought with my wet suit for what felt like an eternity. Couldn't find the zipper, then couldn't get suit off my heels. I didn't use pam or body-glide...lesson learned. What would you do differently?: Pam/body glide. Bike
Comments: I stand to gain the most on the bike. I can make this more of a strength than a liability with more saddle time. What would you do differently?: Train more Transition 2
Comments: I simply forgot to get my feet out of shoes. The dismount was just around a corner and I completely did not anticipate it. I should have prepared better (knowing the course). What would you do differently?: Know the course. Run
Comments: It's nice to feel somewhat like a runner again coming off the FL 70.3 run catastrophe. I should have pushed a little harder to get down into the 7's. I felt good on the run though, I could have gone harder and longer. What would you do differently?: Go harder. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Training volume/intensity. Also, this was two weeks after my first HIM. I was just happy to be competing again. Event comments: I would give it a five but there was no beer at the end. I don't fully support triathlons that don't have beer at the end and I don't care if you are done at ten o'clock in the morning. Last updated: 2009-06-01 12:00 AM

I had not planned on doing this race. I did not know it even existed until Wednesday of the week prior. This race was 13 days after my first HIM (FL 70.3). The purpose of doing the race was just to get back out there again and to fight off complacency.
Up at 3:40. Honey nut cheerios and oj as usual. On the road to Madison. Arrived at 6:00. Ate half a clif bar one hour before race start.
Very brief swim and some light stretching.
