Comments: Woke at up 5:30 AM. Left the house at 6:00 AM. Got there at 6:35 AM. UH. TOO EARLY! Waited around till 7:45 AM to meet up with Tim and Sabrina. Yeah, we screwed up figuring out when to leave and left too early. :) Met Tim and Sabrina at the start line (after the race had started). The boys took off and Sabrina and I took off after I put the number on her jersey. Our goal was to do a 15 mph average. I haven't ridden 45 miles in a long time, and she wanted to pace herself. I also wanted it to be a little bit challenging, but not completely miserable (like I was last year). Other than LOTS of annoying people on the road who didn't understand "ON YOUR LEFT" and that it means for them to move over to the right... it was a good ride. We just cruised along, chatting at times, and other times working pretty hard into a miserable headwind... and riding on chip seal. The headwind was brutal at times, but luckily it didn't last long. For the last 8 miles we got to ride some hills! OH YEAH! I was feeling good and encouraging Sabrina (OK, fine... yelling at her to keep pedaling) to take the hills fast and strong. Overall a good ride. After it was done we all packed up and went to eat lunch! Post race
Event comments: This is a really good bike rally. Very organized and support at EVERY corner to keep the cars from passing through. You don't see that too often on longer bike rallies. Nice food afterwards... I made sure to grab an ice cream on the way out the door! Last updated: 2009-06-01 12:00 AM
