Swim
  • 08m 19s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

Felt pretty low on energy throughout the swim. Had trouble staying on course. Chop was difficult on the way back in addition weaving through previous wave.
What would you do differently?:

Sight a little more often. Take it out a little faster and settle into a better pace.
Transition 1
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Things started to turn around at this point. I left my shoes on the bike for the first time and it went very well. I had a downhill to start the bike and it was easy to slip into my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Keep my eyes on the road while slipping my shoes on. Had a close call with the edge of the road.
Bike
  • 38m 27s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.85 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike leg was awesome. I went 3 minutes faster than I had ever been able to time trial the course.
What would you do differently?:

Less fluids on the bike for such a short course.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Forgot to lift my bars upon dismount. One of my shoes hit the ground and popped off into a crowd of people. Got it back later.
What would you do differently?:

Lift handle bars up upon dismount
Run
  • 20m 30s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

I was dreading the run the most. The sun stayed behind clouds until my last mile. My right calf cramped upon getting my shoe on and it hurt for the first mile. My legs were in a lot of pain but my watch time kept my spirits up and motivated me to keep up my tempo.
What would you do differently?:

Shorter strides?
Post race
Warm down:

1-mile cool down run with stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Rest the night before.

Event comments:

This was my second triathlon and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Race Director Glenn Beck deserves much praise for putting on such a great event. Compared to CapTex earlier in summer, this actually felt like a race and not a parade. There were drinks, freeze pops and pizza after the race. My medal looks really cool and I will definetly race again next year.
