Pre-race routine:

Woke up early ~4:15 and had a bowl of Scottish oatmeal with craisins and a few strawberries. Ate a powerbar about 45 minutes before race start.
Event warmup:

jogged around for about 10-15 minutes and swam a few hundred yards right before the start.

such a short swim. Wasted time trying to draft off of someone that was much slower than me. By the time I realized how slow we were going I was almost at the second turn buoy. I just took off from there.
What would you do differently?:

Just swim all out in such a short swim, not worry about getting on someone's feet so much.

Cross country bits sucked. Very uneven ground made it hard to get moving. A woman in front of me caught an ankle and flat out ate it right in front of me. I helped her up and made sure she was OK.
What would you do differently?:

Could have pushed a little harder, but I'm still getting over a respiratory illness.

Respiratory illness.
