Overall Rank = 32/50

Age Group Rank = 1/5
Pre-race routine:

Just ate my oatmeal and tried to relax. Forgot to stretch!
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 33m 4s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had a hard time seeing the course because of the sun, despite my reflective goggles. I think my vision for distance is getting worse also. The water got a bit choppy toward the middle of the lake which slowed everyone down.
What would you do differently?:

I would remember to stretch out my upper body. I noticed some tightness right away and realized that I forgot to loosen up.
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

I was really happy with my T1. I think this may be the fastest I've done without a wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was as fast as I could be.
Bike
  • 1h 25m 24s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Riding into the wind was so tough, especially on the uphills which were not steep but gradual and long. I was pretty tired and couldn't take full advantage when the wind was at my back.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more before the race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

I was really happy with my T2. One of my fastest.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 57m 3s
  • 6.8 miles
  • 08m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

The course wasn't clearly marked so I went off course and wasted about five minutes getting back on. The section where I mad the wrong turn was was confusing and they should've had a volunteer there to point us in the right direction. Then I got the most horrible side cramp. First ever in a race. I actually had to stop for a few seconds twice because it was so painful.
What would you do differently?:

I wish I would've driven the run course the night before in case I had questions.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched while waiting for awards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind, side cramp, poorly marked run course.

Event comments:

I see there's nowhere on this log to record my place for my gender. I finished 3rd overall for the women which was awesome. I was the 4th woman out of the water and was the #1 female runner. If only I could improve the bike leg I might be winning these darn things for my gender!
