Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:30, ate breakfast and did some stretching. Did an easy mile run before joining up with a group of folks to drive to the race.
Event warmup:

Waited 10 minutes in line to use the Port-a-Potty and did some stretching while waiting for the race start.

Comments:

I felt like I ran a pretty good race. Trying to get back in better shape after several years of on-and-off training. I was shooting for an 8:00 pace and did better than that by 15 seconds per mile! Looking forward to triathalon training for overall fitness.
What would you do differently?:

I wouldn't do anything differently during the race - just train longer/smarter beforehand.
Post race
Warm down:

I just did some light stretching, drank water, and ate a banana before wandering over to the massage tent.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to train at longer distances and include some interval training in order to improve speed.

Event comments:

This is a good, well-managed race. I didn't stick around for the post-race activities, but I've heard they're good.
