Pre-race routine:

Not much. Walked to the starting line, stretched a little, used the bathroom.
Event warmup:

Stretched and used the bathroom. Had to walk about a mile to the race start from the parking lot which was nice to get the legs stretched out.

Comments:

Pouring rain at the start through the first 4-5 miles but after that it quit but lots of water puddles, mud, etc. Walked at 8.5 miles for 40 seconds and again at 11.5 miles for 40 seconds. Hit the wall about 12.5 miles.
What would you do differently?:

Not start out as fast. alot of people at the start and i would not get out as fast as I did, cost me a little at the end.

Good job though on first race.

Warm down:

Should have stretched more and had my recovery product. I will probably pay for that tomorrow morning. Legs are tight right now still.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably went out a little too fast early on in the race to get towards the front of the pack.

Event comments:

Very good race for the first year. A little unorganized at the packet pickup but probably due tot he first event. The post race events were good, food and beer was excellent. Going up hill the last 0.1 mile to the finish was not very fun though.

Performance: Good
Trained for a 9 minute mile pace so I kept it there. Probably started a little fast and that caught up with me in the end
Course: Flat - very nice!! Except for all of the water and mud puddles. Once the feet were wet at the beginning due to all of the rain, they stayed that way the rest of the race. The duct tape worked well on my feet but didn't prevent a few small blisters.
