Swim
Comments: My first pool swim Tri. I don't consider myself a swimmer, and I was surprised that I was "seeded" around 20th and finished 2nd in my age group. Ducking under the lane ropes was a little awkward. What would you do differently?: Learn how to flip-turn (if I foresee more pool swims in my future). Transition 1
Comments: I'm so used to swimming with my jersey under my wetsuit that I put on my helmet and sunglasses before putting on my jersey! Had to take them pack off and wrestle with my jersey for a few seconds. What would you do differently?: Remember to put my jersey on before my helmet! Bike
Comments: I should have pre-ridden this course - it was a little hillier than I was expecting. I didn't burn out over any hills, it just would have been nice to know what was coming up. With the great head start I got with the pool seeding, only one person passed me on the road. Pretty enjoyable course overall. What would you do differently?: Train more and pre-ride the course. Transition 2
Comments: I need to practice my T2. I'm not sure what takes me so long... What would you do differently?: Possibly run without socks. Run
Comments: I ran with a guy that I caught during the bike. He encouraged me quite a bit early in the course. I picked it up a little near the end and tried to encourage him to keep up. I took 5th place by 4 seconds! Without him I'm sure I would have come in 6th. What would you do differently?: I need to focus my training on improving my run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training - only one ride and one run since the Columbia Tri three weeks ago. Event comments: Very enjoyable local race. Hopefully I'll be able to do it more often (and train more for it). Last updated: 2009-06-05 12:00 AM

Started the day with an Ensure shake, a couple salt tablets, and some coffee. Made it to the YMCA around 6:00, checked in, and set up my transition area. Chatted with Jason for a while.
About a 10 minute jog.
