Total Time = 1h 34m 30s
Overall Rank = 305/375
Age Group = W40-44
Age Group Rank = 98/128
Pre-race routine:

Up early, cereal with strawberries for breakfast, stretches to my favorite tunes... went thru checklist to make sure transition bag was setup
Event warmup:

nothing much - just some relaxation and to kill time, brought along a Suduko puzzle - that was good thing for me as I was setup at the rack with well over an hour to spare.
Swim
  • 11h 38m
  • 600 yards
  • 1h 56m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swimming is my best event - loved the lake swim!!
What would you do differently?:

Start more at the front of the pack - being my first competitive lake swim, i went in conservatively near the end of the group.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

I had some vertigo getting out of the water and had to slow down and deal with that. And I am not a start with shoes on the bike girl - not yet.
What would you do differently?:

figure out why I got vertigo and work out THAT for my next race
Bike
  • 42h 48m
  • 13 miles
  • 0.30 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm a newbie on a road bike but had my own PR, so that is what is important to me.
What would you do differently?:

work on gear shifting with hills and become more aggressive with speed. I paced myself to have some energy left for the run (my worst event)
Transition 2
  • 02m 23s
Comments:

shoes didn't come off till back at rack, but was happy with getting off my bike w/o falling
What would you do differently?:

get Tri-shoes and depending on how this season goes, a Tri-Bike!! Most riders had one in this race
Run
  • 34h 10m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11h 01m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Running is my worst event but has the greatest potential for improvement. My primary goal for this leg was to not walk at all - which I accomplished..
What would you do differently?:

go for a 10 minute mile - I held that for the 1st half of this race at least!
lots and lots of endurance training
Post race
Warm down:

stretches

What limited your ability to perform faster:

power for a faster run

Event comments:

Excellent first Tri - very competitive, well run, well organized, very nice supportive participants!
(first one for me in 2 years)
Can't wait to do it next year :)
