Pre-race routine:

Worked all day, had some pop tarts at around 2:00, then a clif bar and some gatorade on the way to the race. Met up with the usual BT crowd, and bs'd about screwing up each others transition areas
Event warmup:

100 yard swim
Swim
  • 06m 47s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Never really felt comfortable on the swim (a recurring theme all night). Ended up with a pretty decent time. Ended up with a pretty decent time though, so maybe uncomfortableness was due to swimming hard. Ended up taking a mouthful of pond water on the last breath before I got out of the water. Was choking and gagging on the way to T1. Ended up with the fastest split of the four races by 3 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Not choke on the water
Transition 1
  • 00m 6s
Comments:

Fast T1. Had no problem once I cleared the water from my lungs. Wesuit peeled right off, slipped shoes and socks on and was off.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 32m 42s
  • 11 miles
  • 20.18 mile/hr
Comments:

Again, never felt comfortable on the bike. I forgot my aero bottle at home, so had to drink out of the bottle on the cage, which I really don't enjoy doing, so I didn't take in nearly enough fluid. Was trying to push it on the bike, but it seemed like I was getting passed more than I was passing. Ended up with teh fastest split of the four races by 50 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Not forget aerobottle
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

went pretty smoothly
Run
  • 23m 23s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Again, never felt comfortable. Found my legs right away, just never seemed to find a good rhythm. Just tried to hang on through most off the run. Ended up with the fastes split of the 4 races by 7 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Lose a few more lbs.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, try to find my lungs

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing

Event comments:

Good last race,e ven though I never felt good during the race. Must mean I was racing right about to my ability. Ended up with the fastest splits of the year in all three disciplines, which was the goal going in.
