Overall Rank = 31/176 F

Age Group Rank = 3/30
Pre-race routine:

Early morning race start (6:30am) so we were up at 4:30am to head to the race site. Ate half a bagel with some peanutbutter and drank two cups of coffee on the way to the race.
Event warmup:

I rode my bike from the parking lot to transition area...about a 1/2 mile ride. I didn't really have time for a warm up.
Swim
  • 17m 31s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

My swim was just ok. Swimming is definately a limiter for me. I started on the left side of the group which was a mistake b/c everyone tries to get close to the buoys on the side. The start was crowded and it took me awhile to find my groove. Once I turned the buoy to come back in things had spread out and I felt much more comfortable and smoother.
What would you do differently?:

I would start on the right hand side...I always do, not sure why I choose not to this time???
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

Out of the water there was a long uphill run to the transition area. The transition area was muddy and I got mud in the hills of my shoes and had a hard time clipping in. I had to physically remove the mud with my fingers to get them to clip.
What would you do differently?:

Try to be more cautious in the transition area and look for grassy patches to run on!
Bike
  • 51m 16s
  • 17 miles
  • 19.90 mile/hr
Comments:

Other than being unable to clip at the start of the bike overall I felt I had an ok bike. I passed a few girls in my age group which always feels good.
What would you do differently?:

There is nothing different I would have done...I just need to keep working on my biking and I know I will improve!
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Pretty good transition...
What would you do differently?:

I need to get the things for my shoe laces that eliminate me having to tie them! My fingers never want to cooperate when I am in a rush!
Run
  • 21m 31s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Great run course! The entire run is in the woods on a trail. It was shaded almost the entire way. I loved this run. There were just enough hills to make it challenging!
What would you do differently?:

I was happy with my run and I don't think there is much I would do differently. I was able to pass some of the others in my age group which helped me place 3rd since I was 17th coming out of the water. I am glad I've been running hills downtown. I just need to keep that up!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swimming is always my limiter. I need to focus on swimming this summer (if my shoulder can handle it. I need to gain some 'swimming confidence'.

Event comments:

Great race! I had a blast and definately hope to do this one again!
