Pre-race routine:

Spent the night in Pewaukee. Got up at 4am with Chow, Muench, Rob and Jim and headed to Lake Mills. After a couple stops searching for coffee, got to Lake Mills at 5:20 and racked up and got registered. Had a yogurt, bananna and coffee.

Comments:

Really pleased since it was the first OWS of the season. Had a good start and got into a nice rhythm. Breathing was very good and sighting was good. The only thing is I was surprised that my time was 30 seconds slower than last year since I did not have a good swim last year and my stroke is better this year.

Very pleased with my time as it was faster than I have been running in training the last few weeks. Started to rain hard during the run, but that kept me nice and cool. Great first run of the season. Hopefully I can keep it up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Did not train enough.

Event comments:

Second time doing this tri. I really enjoyed it again. It is a great way to kick off the season. The swim is short, the run is flat so you can get yourself used to racing again. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Course: The course was changed this year. It was a nice course with some rollers. Pavement was wet, which probably slowed things a little, but I had not put in time on the bike which really was the big factor. Had some tightness in my back the second half.
