Swim
Comments: This swim today appeared to be a struggle for me and is not in accordance with what I was expecting. I did a time trial the other day at CAC and was right about 2 minutes faster than this. I was on the end lane with three other accomplished swimmers. Two of the girls were on college swim team. The hardest part of dealing with the pool swim today was the turning around. I do not flip turn (yet) therefore I struggle with some efficiency there. I felt pretty anxious as I was lapped twice and felt like I gave up before I fought the battle. What would you do differently?: Learn flip turns if I continue to do pool triathlons. Transition 1
Comments: Second triathlon so still trying to figure out what works. What would you do differently?: Practice transition. This was quite an improvement from last time. I felt more organized. Bike
Comments: Much improvement over last bike performance - however much more room for improvement. Hill climing abilities were better - but the descent is a challenge for me. I have this fear of downhill speed and afraid of breaking my head I need to get over. Also need to practice hydrating better on the bike. I did not start to feel settled in and comfortable on the bike until about mile 10. What would you do differently?: practice downhill (and up!) ride harder more often! Forget about the swim and be present with the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Getting off the bike I was disorientated and went to the wrong bike rack. I quickly realized where I was. Helmet off, bike on rack, grab everything, shoes on and went. Forget to leave the shoes tied so struggled with getting them on. I put the watch, race belt and visor on while running. So that went well. What would you do differently?: Remember where I am. Tie shoes. Run
Comments: Fastest run in my AG! Passed both swimmer girls that lapped me in the pool. I still think I could have run sub 30 minutes on this course. What would you do differently?: Run more hills. Run faster, harder, more often.;) Post race
Warm down: Microbrew beer, more gatorade. Some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: I should get a new bike! (that will be next year!) I was not as focused today as I have been in the past. Life events = mind occupied. Event comments: They needed more cones on the bike course. Lots of volunteers. Great shirts and a fancy award medal. Last updated: 2009-06-07 12:00 AM

Wake up, walk Bullit while drinking coffee.
I had a 6:50 start swim so planned on getting there by 5:30 to set up / warm up and such.
I have a hard time eating in the a.m. so I made a turkey sandwhich, tossed in the back pack and was on my way.
Short ride from the parking area to transition then a mile jog.
