Swim
Comments: I was in the yellow capped wave and had some trouble sighting because the course buoys were also yellow. Tried to draft with varying levels of success. Didn't feel particularly strong throughout the swim and was hoping to get it over with. What would you do differently?: Hard to come back from vacation without training the entire week before (no swimming) and race the next day. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: That hill was rough. Probably could have anticipated it a little better and not pushed so hard. Blew me up and it took me a little while to recover. What would you do differently?: Next time I'll ride the course ahead of time. Meant to this year but just ran out of time before the race (rain the weekend before). Transition 2
Comments: Tired. Had to sit down to change my shoes. Run
Comments: Once again, the run is my undoing. The course starts with an uphill and keeps going that way until about half way through. Glad that my knee held up (it had been bothering me for the prior two weeks since a 13 mile run). I got to cross the finish with my son which was the highlight of my triathlon experience. What would you do differently?: At least I know what I need to focus on during the upcoming off season. Post race
Warm down: Met up with wife and kids, had a bagel and some juice. What limited your ability to perform faster: Vacation the week before without any training. Event comments: Good race. Organized and on time. The organizers clearly know what they are doing and run a very good local race. Good communication and clearly marked course. Last updated: 2009-06-08 12:00 AM

Arrived home from a weeklong vacation the day before. Got a decent night's sleep and woke up at 4:30 to get ready, get packed, have a slice of bread with peanutbutter and drive over to the race. Picked up my packet, set up my transition area, walked around and used the "facilities".
Light stretching and walking around to stay loose.
