Pre-race routine:

Coffee, 1/2 banana, 1/2 English muffin with Peanut Butter on it. Used my albuterol inhaler 20 minutes before the race.
Event warmup:

Not much warm up because it is blowing 20 mpg and raining sideways. I sought shelter under the Performing Arts Center until the race started. On the bright side, no one was anxious to get to the starting line so I was at the front of the group when they said GO!

I qualified for Boston on this course. I am thrilled!
What would you do differently?:

I think that I should not have stopped twice between miles 18 and 19 and when I was less than 3 miles from the finish because I would have finished in under 4:00 hrs. At least I know what I can improve upon to save time in the future. A good learning experience.

Warm down:

My fingers were numb from the cold. I got out of my clothes and changed. Walked a bit and enjoyed the awards ceremony.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The wind was a factor as it seemed to always be a headwind!!! The rain was also a factor but not as much as the wind.

Event comments:

I love this race course because it's scenic and it is where I train.

Course: Downtown Anchorage, to mile 7.3 on the Coastal Trail, back to mile 0 and out to Tikiska Park, loop around the park, and run back to mile 0 and then back to the start in downtown Anchorage. There was a headwind at Westchester Lagoon where mile 0 is, had to hold my baseball cap on and keep my head down. In the woods, it wasn't bad.
