Pre-race routine:

Was coming in from out of town so I elected to do the VIP signin in case I didn't make it in. Tent was way at the end of the 9th street pier and line moved very slow. Didn't get to get into the transition area until 10 minutes until race time.

What would you do differently?:

Had problems having to go around swimmers. Try to find a spot with a clear line to buoy and avoid the slower swimmers

Had major troubles in transition. Didn't really get a chance to get set up and it showed. LOST way to much time in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Get better prepared before race. Leave on tri shorts versus putting on dry bike shorts

Had trouble with a couple of hills but felt good otherwise. Also new bike and getting used to gears but I am pleased with my bike

Just ride more and get in better shape

Pulled into T2 and couldn't find my bike spot. In the end some had moved my stuff. Got my bike shoes off and on the course
What would you do differently?:

Set a flag for myself. Somewas also must have knocked my bike over. After the race my wife noticed red paint scrapes all down the center tube :(

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My transitions hurt me alot. So be it. In the end I finished safe and went home to my family to race again and learn from this experience. Next year I may come back and return to Sprint level or try the olympic race but I think the SS distance was good after being laid up for the nearly 3 weeks after surgery.

Event comments:

Was there any water stations on the run course? I saw two on the bike (including one on like mile 1) but none on the run. Also sign in was very disorganized and the course, transition etc had issues with getting around. Lots of bottlenecks in fact a couple of times bikers came close to hitting runners.
