Swim
  • 07m 37s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

A good swim, I started wide & rounded all the bouys well.
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Not a great transition, no issues just a litle winded & walked the last few yards to the bike.
Bike
  • 34m 46s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.71 mile/hr
Comments:

The new ride is fast! I probably hammered the hills a bit too much & it affected the run. Real pleased with this bike leg, the fastest pace as I can tell was about 23 mph because of the hills.

Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Winded getting off the bike not to mention the heat doing its thing.
Run
  • 30m 35s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Well - I guess we can see were my problem is...running. The run was tough & slow, even for me. I battled sinus problems Thursday & Friday...Friday felt like someone clubbed me in the head. I had to walk a couple of times to regain some composure.
Post race
Warm down:

Cheered on Kendall down the fininshing chute, ate & drank free stuff.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't fell well Thurs & Fri, especially Friday. I had planned on driving down Friday night to do training ride Sat but cancelled & went to bed early. So, in light of the health issues, I am pleased with the race that I entered more as a training exercise. I haven't raced as much as I would have liked to to date this year so I hoping to get a couple more sprints in along with an OLY in 2 weeks. The BIG RACE is Oct 22, the 1/2 IM!

Event comments:

I've done 4 of these Sommer Sports Sprints in Clermont & all have been well run, organized & well staffed.

Course: 1st event on my new Cannondale IM 2000! 1st 7 miles are relatively flat after which there are a couple of decent climbs and one really fast descent. Around mile 5 to 6 a large group (6 or 7) passes me & once they past they did not pull away which concerned me with regard to a drafting viloation (They were all drafting but doesn't look like the refs noticed). I decided to keep them close but at the "legal" distance & was able to bank some heart beats coasting to keep distance. At about mile 8 or 9 I decided to overtake them & stayed in front until the last couple of hills. At that point I was tiring & decided to hold something back for the run.
