Pre-race routine:

woke up at 5AM, ate banana and bowl of Kashi Oats with Skim Milk and some OJ. BM. Loaded the bike and was off by 5:30.
Event warmup:

Set up T1. 3 mile ride, 1 mile run, and 200 yd swim. Water was freezing cold.
Swim
  • 09m 37s
  • 800 yards
  • 01m 12s / 100 yards
Comments:

I'm not used to wading through the water for 100 yards then swimming all out, then walk/running again. I was gasping for air on the first loop, but settled down and just got through the mess.
What would you do differently?:

Not much I really could do, maybe some catch up to block my face from getting kicked.
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

very cold.
couldn't get arm warmers on due to being wet and cold.

What would you do differently?:

put on gloves, toe warmers and grab a long sleeve shirt
Bike
  • 1h 25m 51s
  • 29 miles
  • 20.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Ave 22 at 15 miles, but that dropped as I headed into the wind and found a couple hills. Got passed by 5 guys on the bike during the 29 mile ride. Notice at about mile 20 that my fingers were 100% numb. No feeling at all. I had a hard time shifting, drinking, etc.
What would you do differently?:

wear gloves
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Couldn't feel fingers, thus I had a hard time getting the helmet off and shoes on. I paniced for a second, but was able to do it.
What would you do differently?:

once again, wear gloves and toe warmers
Run
  • 39m 26s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 06m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good. Passed the 5 guys who got me on the bike, plus two more. Wish I hadn't given up so much time on the bike and the transitions.
What would you do differently?:

The run was solid other than I couldnt' feel my feet the first mile.
Post race
Warm down:

talked to Sara, Josh, Syd, Bre, etc. Ate 6 pancakes and hung out for a while.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

21 mile mid week run
100 mile ride on Friday
No speed trainig
Wind/Cold weather

Event comments:

When they said 2 minutes to start the swim, they said ready set go 10 seconds later.
Lack of water on the run, I basically had a tackle a girl to get her attention to see if she had water. not a huge deal as it was cool out.
