Faith In Action Caregivers
70F / 21C
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 12m 41s
Overall Rank = 6/60
Age Group = 31-35
Age Group Rank = 1/6
Pre-race routine:

Race start = 7:30
Woke up at 4:45, drank an ensure plus (350 cal), oatmeal (230 cal), 3 glasses of water, and another 1/4 bottle of ensure right before we left (100 cal). Went to the bathroom, left for the race
Event warmup:

Got there early, walked around and sipped some gatorade. At about 6:50 got on the trainer until about 7:10. This was the first time I warmed up on the trainer and I think it really helped loosen me up, I will take this away and do again in the future. I believe my swim really benefited from it.
Swim
  • 05m 56s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt really good in the water. Long smooth strokes and I didn't feel tired at all, usually I feel a little labored in my breathing, but not on this swim. I was first out of the water in my heat.
Transition 1
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

No transition time was posted, but I think it was probably one of my best transition times out of the water.
Bike
  • 45m 56s
  • 15.53 miles
  • 20.29 mile/hr
Comments:

My rear tire started losing air at some point during my return portion of the course. Tire was completely flat with about 2 miles to go, so I just kept on going, I probably lost some time with this, but overall I thought I did good on the bike. Course contained 10+ 90 degree turns, but I thought I cornered them good and I kept up a good cadence throughout.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Got off the bike pretty good, it was a grass transition area, so it was easy on the bare feet. Bike was not on a rack so I just placed it down. First time using running shoes with the lace locks, they went on really fast and I was pretty happy with the feel, although my second toe on both feet received some friction and eventually got blisters. Grabbed my hat which contained a gel flask (which was lost) and my race number and ran with them until I got everything on.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my gel flask was more secure to my person. It fell out before I even left the transition area
Run
  • 21m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt really good on the run, keeping a consistent pace and cadence throughout. The only part that was not satisfactory was the frictin on the tops of both second toes from the shoes. I need to figure something out, because if it were a 10k run, I might have had to stop
What would you do differently?:

Use some moleskin on my second toes, hopefully that will create a barrier.
Post race
Warm down:

stretched for a while, overall I didn't feel real tired or sore

What limited your ability to perform faster:

flat tire, blisters

Event comments:

Gotta work on my feet, hopefully get some practice in before a longer race.
