Swim
Comments: Swim was a little scary- immediately choked on water so had to do the side stroke till I got water out of lungs and could catch my breath. Good swim after that. Transition 1
Comments: Lots to do in this transition. Usually just put on helmet- already have shoes on bike. This time had to put on socks, running shoes (no clipless pedals for me yet), helmet, camel back, gloves... took a long time. What would you do differently?: First Xterra- I am fine with a shitty T1 Bike
Comments: OK, I suck on a mtn bike- Riding twice a month isnt going to do much to make that better but I'm doing the best I can. I walked a lot of things that I may have been able to ride. I actually remember during the ride hearing birds and crickets and thinking how cool it was to be out here riding. I had my second mtn bike crash- went over the side of a "cliff". I had a hard time getting the bike back up (there was no one around), but I did it. My ride was bad, but I got it done so I am happy. I may really suck on a mtn bike but I really like it! What would you do differently?: I did my very best and there is no where but up to go from here. Next year I will do MUCH better. Transition 2
Comments: This one was a little better, I didnt have to change shoes which made it faster. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Since I've been injured, I have done little or no running. When I got off the bike, I was really happy to be back to my happy place, but that only lasted a mile or so. My lack of running caught up with me. I started getting a bad cramp on my left inner quad. It got worse and worse.. I kept talking myself out of it, I drank a Gatorade at a water stop and it went away!?!?!? I got damn lucky. The run was painful and I was VERY happy to get it over with. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I can't run when I am injured. Post race
Warm down: Stretched What limited your ability to perform faster: I suck on a mtn bike and I've been injured and couldnt run the last month. Event comments: Great race, hopefully next year my mtn biking will be a little better... I did pretty bad in my first road triathlon and now I'm placing in every race. I love a challenge and this race definitely was that:) Last updated: 2009-06-11 12:00 AM

I did a warm up swim. I was really nervous before hand, but getting in the water brought a feeling of calmness over me. JD said just by looking at my face when I got out of the water, he could tell I was in a much better state of mind. No idea why I was so nervous- I knew it wasnt gona be pretty!
