Pre-race routine:

Got up and made coffee, packed the car and drove to the site. Biked from where we parked to transition, dropped my gear and went to marking. Gotta love that I have number 321! Set up transition and chatted with folks I knew and folks in my AG. USED my inhaler!!!!
Event warmup:

Ran down to the water and then one loop of the 2 looped run course. My lungs were really feeling it so when I got done I used my inhaler again.

Comments:

I really had breathing problems - not from technique but asthma. which sucked. I definitely did a better job of sighting - only drifted off once...even managed to catch some feet a couple of times.

Limited by breathing problems and the crowds. LOTS of blocking and places I could have surged ahead could not. Saw a few pacelines - by MEN but not many.

so after I dismounted, I slipped in my cleats and went down HARD onto my right hand. It is possibly fractured but waiting to see how it does....It hurt, I paused getting up and transition was a bit slow for me.
What would you do differently?:

learn to get out of my shoes on my bike so I don't fall on my ass

my hand was throbbing a LOT at the beginning which made it tough and I just kept telling myself to suck it up and get through.

no taper, training for long course!

Event comments:

Location is great, roads AWESOME and it was a challenging course for a sprint! I plan to be back depending on schedule next year

Course: 2 loops very scenic and smelly lots of people cheering. the one water station ran out of water on the second loop (when I wanted it). one real hill followed by a good downhill and a slight grade after then downhill to the second loop - the second time through it was flat to finish.
