Total Time = 1h 34m 32s
Overall Rank = 83/277
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 10/21
Pre-race routine:

Set up transition, took it easy and talked to friends
Event warmup:

200 yd warmup swim only - was hoping for a bike warmup but unable to do so
Swim
  • 10m 15s
  • 700 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim still threw me off a little even after all the OWS practice. Breathing was kinda tough and started to swim off course for about 45 seconds but quickly corrected. Water was pretty murked up by my wave start but it was not as bad as I previously had heard it was. I was hopin for a 9:30 swim but that was based on 500 yds.
What would you do differently?:

Legs were wobbly and weak coming out of the water. This was my 2nd tri and although not as bad as my first I still felt my legs couldn't deliver the punch on the bike and run after the swim. I need much more Swim-Bike brick practice.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Went smooth overall, little hiccup putting my socks on and also had to smile to the family cheering me on while getting transitioned. Used rare earth magnets for my race number--worked pretty good
What would you do differently?:

Practice more transitions
Bike
  • 54m 33s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 19.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike actually was right on target even though I felt slow on the bike today. I didn't burn up the hills like I am capable of but I did maintain enough composure so I wouldn't blow up on the run. Goal was 55:15 and managed 54:33 so was very pleased
What would you do differently?:

nothing - just keep logging in the miles
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

T2 went smooth - no problems
Run
  • 26m 40s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Was definitely tapped going into the run (at least I felt like I was) however I once again managed to come close to my run goal. I was really concerned I'd blow up on the run so I never pushed it like I have been practicing to do. The sun was brutal on the course. The two water stations provided some relief with a quick sip and the rest of the cool water over my head
What would you do differently?:

nothing - need to step up my running mileage in training
Post race
Warm down:

none - walked

Event comments:

This was my 2nd tri - I was very close to my goal and I improved dramatically from my first tri earlier this season. I'm grateful for my progress
