Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:45 to have a bite to eat and load up the car. Ate yogurt and flax mixture, banana and english muffin. Took stuff outside to load car. As it happens, when I arrived at the race venue I discovered that I had left my food, water and gatorade at the house. I had to do my best to forget about it and use up some of the miscellaneous sources of fuel I stored in my bag. Could have filled up my bottles at the water dispenser, but I did such a good job of putting this out of my conscious memory that I did not think to walk over to the water jugs available for public consumption.
Event warmup:

Took the bike out for a brief ride, ran about 1/2 mile, took a brief swim to get acclimated to the waves (did not help), and mixed in various stretches. Had too much time I think, but I prefer more time to being rushed.

Comments:

Very windy and choppy water and swim course is a disaster to begin with.

Comments:

I felt mentally worse than my physical state. I probably could have pushed a little harder on the run. I wish I had since I was less than 90 seconds from third place in my AG. And this time is significantly slower than paces in earlier races.
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed a banana and water, walked around a bit, then packed up, got in line again for some breakfast.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall I improved 3 minutes from last year's race and moved up 30 spots in the overall ranking. I don't feel like anything really limited my performance. It would have helped to have my food and drinks, but I made the mental adjustment. The race was not that long for it to have much of a difference.

Event comments:

Swim course is really a disaster and worse this year than last. More comments to come after I debrief.
