Pre-race routine:

Set 8 alarms to make sure I wake up. Slept like a log. Stayed at the Hilton using a corpo rate which made the whole day easier. Ate a cliff bar and made my way to the transition at 4am. Make sure to bring my chip next time... I had to convince the people to let me in.
Event warmup:

Stretching... 2 mile bike ride, 1/2 mile run.
Swim
  • 19m 34s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water easn't as bad as I'd feared but this was the worst swim of the year! I was horrible. I tried to navigate around people to find some open water but I couldn't find any. 200 meters in I got kicked in the face and broke my goggles again. Had to stop to gain my composure and move along.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know... I just need more practice in these mass starts. I'm not a great swimmer but I though I would do a lot better than I did.
Transition 1
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

I use toe clips so I just slipped on my running shoes, put on my helmet and took off.
What would you do differently?:

Not bad... I just had a bad wave rack at the very top of a hill.
Bike
  • 41m 17s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 19.87 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

The bike is still a mystery to me. I don't know how much going clipless will help me improve my speed but I'm anxious to see. I just didn't have the funds this year to justify the purchase. I feel like I push myself on the bike, but when I'm finished I feel like I could have gone faster.
Transition 2
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

Easy transition with no bike shoes to worry about. Navigating the racks was a little frustrating.
What would you do differently?:

not much
Run
  • 25m 16s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran about 2 minutes slower than my previous races. Got a horrible side cramp and my seperated ribs acted up. Had to wlak a few times to dull the pain.
What would you do differently?:

HTFU
Post race
Warm down:

Gatorade and a banana. Hanging with my firends. Felt a lot better after this race than previous ones.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury, missed 3 weeks of training.

Event comments:

It was a great race to be at, although I wish I had a better performance. This was my second triathlon overall and I thought I would feel a little more comfortable than I was. All I can do is look forward to the next race.
