Swim
Comments: Need to do a swim warm up. Once I got into a rhythm, I was fine. I had to switch to breathing every 3 strokes rather than the 5 I do in the pool. What would you do differently?: Warm up. Transition 1
Comments: My transition time is inaccurate due to a large truck that was parked near the course. It had a similar radio frequency as our chips and affected a number of racers. The officials were unable to distinguish our transition time from our bike times so they just gave those affected a 1:01 T1 time. Annoying since it was my first tri and I have no idea how to gauge my T1 time. What would you do differently?: I would get my wetsuit off faster and prob no socks. I don't think you need them in the sprint. Might also tape GU to my bike. It was annoying to pedal and hold it in my mouth so I could eat it later. Bike
Comments: Not happy with the bike. Need to work on hills. I was passed by a lot of people. Need to work on tighter turns as well. What would you do differently?: I would have pushed harder on the first half of the course and would drive or ride the actual course before hand to see what I'm up against. Transition 2
Comments: Did not take my shoes off until I reached T2. There was a hard 90 degree turn into the transition area so it made it hard to do that. And I never tried it before. Racked the bike and almost knocked off someone else's. Ooops! Got my helmet off and my running shoes on pretty quickly. Put on my watch on the way out of the run- next time will have to wear it the entire race. Run
Comments: I made up a lot of time here. Running is my strength so it felt good to get off the bike and pass a bunch of folks who passed me on the bike. I had a great pace and was happy with it. I know I can go faster though :) Post race
Warm down: Stretched at transition area for about 10 min. Iced knee. Ate yummy BBQ and then took a nap when I got home! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training on hills enough. I could have worked harder and researched the race course better so I knew what I would be up against. Also, practicing transitions is key. Event comments: Great first race. It was well organized and had a ton of volunteers who were very eager to help. Great tri for a first timer. When I finished, I felt like I could have done it again or done a longer distance so that felt good. It's a heck of a lot easier on your body than a 1/2 marathon! Last updated: 2009-06-22 12:00 AM

Got to the race early. Racked bike in an ideal spot- had a great area set up. Drank a little, squeezed into wetsuit and went to the pre-race meeting.
No warm up. Bad idea. Need to do a a few strokes to get ready for the swim.
