Swim
Comments: Leapdog told me to start on the left since I was a right-side breather. I had previously decided to start on the outside back right to avoid jostling. I didn't feel comfortable changing my plan at the last minute so I started on the right. Big mistake. 1st sighting I was going perpendicular towards the shore. The whole swim, I kept tending too far right. One advantage - there was no jostling because there was NOBODY near me - haha What would you do differently?: Start on the left - I'm pretty sure I'm last wave in my next tri in 2 weeks and I'm really slow so I won't have to deal with jostling anyway. Transition 1
Comments: I forgot to turn my Garmin on before the race so I was piddling around with it. It was drizzling so my shoes and socks were wet What would you do differently?: Look at my list frequently so I remember things. Run instead of walk in transition area. Bike
Comments: One advantage of being such a slow swimmer is that I got to pass other bikers. However that also slowed me down. I kind of had mental issues with passing and worrying about traffic, of which there was very little. I had biked this course the previous week with a 16.1 but only had a 14.9 in the race ps - Thank goodness I passed the unicyclist. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive with passing Transition 2
Comments: Messing around with Garmin again What would you do differently?: Get more efficient with Garmin or don't wear it. Run in transition area Run
Comments: I passed quite a few people here. Run was comfortable - probably too comfortable What would you do differently?: Ramp it up - I should be suffering a little - especially at the end Post race
Warm down: Got the free ice cream cone at the cafe. Got a 1st place age group plaque. The other lady in my age group (there were only 2 of us) came over and had her husband take a picture of the 2 of us with our plaques - that was nice. My post-race meal later was a steak with blue cheese, garlic shrimp, augratins, a piece of turtle cheesecake, a piece of chocolate-peanut butter tart, and 3 truffles What limited your ability to perform faster: Covered that above Event comments: I'll be back next year to redeem myself. Need to remember to register right away because it fills in January Last updated: 2009-06-22 12:00 AM

Up at 5 am. Bagel with peanut butter/honey and coffee. Got there at 6am when transition area opened. Next time I won't go so early cuz it really doesn't matter where I rack my bike. Met a guy, Leapdog, from Minnesota BT thread - he was very friendly and supportive - he's done an Ironman and marathons. Ate a Powerbar. Got marked. I was very cold and shivering - it was overcast and drizzling.
Swam a few strokes
