Age Group Rank = 11/47
Pre-race routine:

Stop at McDonald's on the way downtown, and picked up a breakfast burrito... yumm..
Event warmup:

A little stretching before the start of our wave
Swim
  • 10m 5s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

should have considered the current a bit more when heading out to the second buoy. By the time I approached it, I had been sucked downstream. Ended up having to swim up-stream for about 15 yards to get to the buoy and round it.... i completely spent myself
What would you do differently?:

Need to do a better job sighting and overall navigation. Take into consideration the current
Transition 1
  • 04m 56s
Comments:

should have been smarter with the timing chip. I tore it off when the wetsuit came off. Didn't realize it until I mounted the bike. Wasn't sure if I was going to get DQ'd, so I went back into T1 and searched my bag, turned my wetsuit inside out... finally found it on the ground... uggggh. I think I lost about 4 minutes here!!!
What would you do differently?:

tuck the timing chip under the wetsuit
Bike
  • 35m 6s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 21.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Good biking leg. Our leg was the last to go, so the bike course was relatively clear.
What would you do differently?:

push a bit harder
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

pretty straight forward here in T2...
What would you do differently?:

run with socks... this was my 2nd time running w/o socks... it was pretty gross when I was done.
Run
  • 23m 17s
  • 3.4 miles
  • 06m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. nice course
What would you do differently?:

push a bit harder
Post race
Warm down:

hung out had some pizza

What limited your ability to perform faster:

loosing the timing chip in T1 sucked. after that, it was a mental game for me. need to learn how to blow it off, and focus on the rest of the race.

Event comments:

First triathlon for me, so not much to base it off of. Truly enjoyed the race, the atmosphere and the Detroit skyline. Look forward to doing it next year!
