Pre-race routine:

Had to drive 2 hours to Philly. Up at 4, had apple slices, water and a Clif Bar. Drove to Philly. Got there around 6. Found out that the swim was cancelled. Was definitely bummed about that...
Event warmup:

Well, since the swim was cancelled and I didn't need to get in the water ahead of time, I really just stood around for a while... Did a short 5 minute run to warm up. Stretched and stood around some more.

Comments:

Went out ridiculously fast for me. I'm studying for the bar exam right now, so I just decided to take out all of my stress, anxiety and frustration on this run. First mile was 7:29, second was 7:52. Way faster than I would have liked, but hey - I've never done a du before :)

So fast, I had to walk a lot into transition just to get my breath back.

Comments:

Oh, I'm notoriously bad at T1... This was the worst T1 time of all the people who finished around me. I had to walk a bit to catch my breath after I basically red-lined on the run. Then trying to get my Garmin off my wrist and on to my bike, then trying to run out. I need to do better at this. If I could knock a minute off of each of my transitions - that would be huge!
What would you do differently?:

Be faster.

Comments:

Some wind at parts, but overall great. This is the fastest I've ever averaged on my bike, for any ride ever :) That makes me feel good! The course was definitely congested. I knew to stay right except to pass, but a lot of people didn't - which made for problems.

It was frustrating when there were 2 riders riding together -- all the way to the left. I actually commented to them that the should ride to the right when I got stuck behind them for a while (faster older women were passing all of us - so I was waiting for them to pass before I cut around, if those two would have rode right, I could have been in a 'middle lane.') Oh well! Not too big of a deal, I've just never experienced congestion like that...
What would you do differently?:

More aero on the first lap - I was comfortable and in a rhythm with it by the second lap. I managed to drink a whole aero-bottle and take a gu. HUGE steps in bike skills since I only got my bike in January :)

Better, but not great comparatively...

Comments:

Eh. I went out too hard on the first run to really do anything here. I was tired, and was getting hot. I wanted to keep the average under 9, but I couldn't quite pull it off...
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got bike, chatted, headed out!

Event comments:

I think they did a great job switching over to a du at the last second like that (i.e. enough water for first run). Will definitely do CGI events again in the future...

That said - I don't like the Diva theme!!!
