Swim
Comments: I didn't do any flip-turns so I lost a little time there. It also took me a few laps to get into "race mode" and pick up the pace. What would you do differently?: Flip-turns Transition 1
Comments: No wetsuits were needed for this race, so it was a quick transition. I also don't like my shoes being on the bike already so I run in mine. The racks were not tall enough to put the seats up on them, so I had to put my brakes over it and pick it straight up or risk screwing up my aero drink bottle. What would you do differently?: Not throw my caps and goggles on my number belt. Bike
Comments: I ran in my shoes to transition and then on the way back forgot to get out of them and put my feet on top. What would you do differently?: Get out of shoes and place feet on top before dismount. Transition 2
Comments: Forgot my race belt since I tossed my swim caps and goggle on it... I got lucky this time. Lesson learned. The tongue of my shoes took me a second to pull out so it wouldn't rub during the run. What would you do differently?: Put on number belt. Run
Comments: I felt good and it was pretty humid. The one water station that was there I just doused it on my head and when passing the other way didn't take one. I didn't like the finish. About 15 yards before the finish line you had to do a u-turn into the parking lot. So much for having a strong finish... What would you do differently?: Push myself a little more the last mile. I had more in me. Post race
Warm down: Walked around with arms on head trying to get air in the humid climate. My body hadn't quite acclimated to long events in east TX/LA just yet from being in west TX the last 5 years in school. I also had plenty of choc. milk and Powerade and a little food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training on the bike as well as using a 54 frame and 650 wheels when I'm 6'2 and 167 lbs. Event comments: I was disappointed in not getting any type of medal for 1st in my age group, but oh well. They gave out little tripod seats. I would have preferred a ribbon. There was plenty of food and drinks though. Last updated: 2009-06-23 12:00 AM

Couldn't fall back asleep after 3am. Ate oatmeal, toast, and OJ at 4:30am. Left Marshall for Shreveport about 5. Drank green tea at 6. Arrived, headed to bathroom, picked up numbers and chip, and organized transition. Started at 7:30.
After setting up my transition and going over things a few times I headed to the water and swam a couple of laps. Then we stood a while, did the Star-Spangled Banner, etc so I did a lot of shoulder shrugs and arm swings.
