Run
Comments: This is a dirt cheap ($5) local race that attracts anyone and everyone. We had about 600 people (guesstimate) this morning. A lot of the local cross country teams do this race so it's a pretty fast race. This is only my second stand alone 5K so I set a goal that seemed realistic even though it was 1:21 faster than my first 5K race back in February. I have been training pretty hard and new I would be faster, but didn't want to set any unrealistic goals with the chance of not meeting them and getting down on myself. So, my goal time for this race was 24:00 and in the back of my mind I had what I thought of as an unrealistic goal of 23:00. So, needless to say, I was extremely pleased with my time today of 22:10. The training is paying off! I ran the perfect race where I didn't have anything left at the end. However, went for a 13 mile bike ride shortly after.:) What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Walked, drank water, ate a banana. Went for a bike ride with my wife. Event comments: No water stations which was expected. I mean, the race did only cost $5. I was fine with that although it would have been nice to have drinks closer to the finish line. Took us awhile to find water after we finished, but other than that you can't beat this race for the money. I love the course. Last updated: 2009-06-24 12:00 AM
