Pre-race routine:

Woke up slightly hung over at 6. Downed a lot of gatorade and a golden graham treat and headed to the race. Checked in and got body marked. I made sure to double and triple check my transition area. Sadly my bib number put me in about the crappiest transition location possible.
Event warmup:

200 yard swim and stretch
Swim
  • 03m 52s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

My swim went ok. I did get knocked in the head once and it took me two times to fix my goggles. Its ok though, it only cost me a few seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Flipp turned.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Transition went crappy. I got my shoes and everything on real quick but my bike got stuck on the rack and that took me a while to get unstuck.
What would you do differently?:

get a smaller bike so i can rack it differently...or a bigger rack?
Bike
  • 43m 24s
  • 11.6 miles
  • 16.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Wow, this is definitely the hilliest course ive ever been on. I was kind of hoping to hit 20+ mph, but only got to 16...it was very tough, atleast for me.
What would you do differently?:

More hill work and tighten my cleats. It took me forever to click my cleats into place on my bike cause i found out later one of them had come loose.
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

I caught a calf cramp bending over tieing my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Not get a cramp and get some Yank shoelaces.
Run
  • 24m 1s
  • 2.7 miles
  • 08m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

I blew it on the run. Holy cow my legs were shot for some reason. I need to run more and definitely do some hill work on the bike. Close to one of the slowest runs of the day.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the run and the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk and stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

crappy run and staying up till 3 with 3 shots of vodka, 5 rum and cokes and two beers....yay, not doing that again haha.

Event comments:

Great race, but ridiculously hilly..atleast for me.
