Pre-race routine:

Packed the bikes and bag the night before. Woke up about 5:30 had some water and energy bar before heading out for the 5 minute drive to the race.
Event warmup:

Set up transition and picked up chip. Swam a 300 to warm up...I am glad I did as the top I was going to wear once wet was too loose. I decided to take it off and swim with out it.
Swim
  • 04m 25s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 28s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt good through the whole swim. I was able to pass easily with the wide lanes and I was able to do flip turns on 4 out of the 5 walls. Nothing to complain about.
What would you do differently?:

Swim in my top before the race. Took some extra time after getting out of the swim to grab my top.
Transition 1
  • 02m 31s
Comments:

Took some time to get my wet top on. SHoes went on well and I put on a sleeveless windbreaker. Put arm warmers on while riding...no gloves.
What would you do differently?:

Can't wait to do a triathlon when sun is out and it is a little warmer.
Bike
  • 41m 30s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 18.07 mile/hr
Comments:

I settled in to the bike pretty well and felt strong all the wat through. 2nd loop was better than the first. Passed several people but was passed by several as well. I think I can be sub 38 with some more time in the saddle. Happy with the ride.
What would you do differently?:

More training time...
Transition 2
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

Ate a little during transition and had some more water...should have skipped that. Shoes went on quick but arm wamers took time to get off and put away (did not want them to blow away.)
What would you do differently?:

Wear less on the bike...race number on during T1
Run
  • 31m 40s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Having the HRM/watch here would have helped. I tried to guage my pace on how I felt but I was too slow. I was hoping to go sub 30 and probably could have gotten there. Next year I will need to do more BRICKs
What would you do differently?:

RACE...try to hang with those passing me.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around...Talk to wife and friends.

Event comments:

14 min. faster than the last race on this course so I can't be to down on the time. I really felt that I would be faster on the run. I am excited to start training for the next race!
