Swim
Comments: Came out of the start a little too fast. I started out to the right which was good, but I kept veering off to the right (away from the buoy). But as soon as I got to the first buoy, everything went well. I got a little nervous as I was a little tired at that buoy, but I kept my composure and was happy with the rest of the swim. What would you do differently?: Definitely do a better job spotting and not veering to the right during the hole shot. It was good to not be the clutter of the other swimmers, but I was too far to the right. I also need to do a little better job pacing myself at the start of the race. Transition 1
Comments: Terrific T1! I think I was 4 or 5th overall for T1 timewise. I actually had a small, quick cramp in my right leg heading out of the water which scared the shit of me, but it ended up being fine. My wetsuit came off with ease and I think it was definitely a success going with the put on the shoes on while you ride approach. What would you do differently?: Not much, I don't think I can ask for much better than that. Bike
Comments: Had a very good bike split. I felt really good and was definitely pushing myself. While doing it, and especially after the cramp in T1, I was a little nervous I was going too hard, but I don't think I was. What would you do differently?: Don't think I would change much, very happy with my ride. Transition 2
Comments: Everything was going great with T2 until I forgot to take my helmet off! Lol, all the sudden I hear the guy with the intercom saying "Sir, are you sure you want to run with your helmet on?" so I said "Oh Shit" and had to run back to take my helmet off. It probably cost me 15-20 seconds. What would you do differently?: Obviously, not forget to take my helmet off. I am strongly considering getting some Zoot sneakers. That way, I would need to swear socks and wouldn't have to tie my laces. Run
Comments: Run was good. My goal is 7:30 miles so I certainly beat that. However, I think this is area I really need to improve on. I was a little nervous that I was going to fast at the beginning, but after finishing, I think I could have gone a little faster. What would you do differently?: Push the pace a little more Post race
Warm down: Felt really good after the race. I did some light stretching, but probably should have done a better cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure that there was anything. Event comments: This was my first race so I don't have much to compare it to. Overall, I don't think I could have asked for much more. The transition areas were a little sketchy terrain wise, but besides that, it was great! Last updated: 2009-06-28 12:00 AM

Got up around 4:30 to head to race. Had a lite breakfast, and started getting hydrated in the car. I was one of the first ones at the even and didn't really know what to do with myself, but I got a good spot on the rack in the transition area.
Just went for a quick run with Rob to loosen the legs up. Also did a very quick swim right before the race.
