Swim
Comments: not bat have to learn to deal with the open water starts. Got hit in the head side and had water splashed in my mouth all at the same time. kinda freaked out a little and it tookme about 500 yards to get back into it. still had a little prob in crowds. What would you do differently?: Need to work on the drills Bryan Rhodes taught us and work on swimming in a crowd. I think the most valuable tip was learning to swim with my head up so i can sight and deal with the scrums. Transition 1
Comments: kinda long transition, lucky for me I was in the front half of the transition. i racked my bike the night b4 swo I had a spot I could easily spot by a trash can. What would you do differently?: Nothing I think I had a great t1 considering how long the transition. I was surprised how quick I got the wetsuit off and got on my bike. Racking the bike was a plus cuz I racked it by a trash can and was allowed to put my stuff between the trash can and my rack. Bike
Comments: bike was a good course and I had riddeen the hills several times. not sure why my time was off by 1mph? I think maybe the wind had something to do with it. What would you do differently?: Practice, practice and more practice!! but still not bad for my 1st OLY size race. Transition 2
Comments: not a bad run my feet were a little numb for some reason and I didnt put my # belt on b4 the bike and had a prob putting it on. did bounce on my toes to get the blood to my legs. b4 I left for the run. What would you do differently?: I guess go back to putting my race belt on b4 the bike and not b4 the run. also I think I would not have focued on bouncing so much until I got my belt on and not been so focued on bucking my helmet straps to put my belmet on the bars. Run
Comments: was my best run at this distance in a competetion. I really focused on running and i think it is all coming together. Hydration was good andand did good keeping my body cool. and most of all my breathing was in control the whole time. What would you do differently?: need to work on speed now I have the form and the breathing and I now have the plaqn to keep me from bonking on the run like i did in the 1st tri. Post race
Warm down: talked to the t3 guys and then walked to the car with my girlfriend so that she could go to her family reruion. Yes i went afterwards. Then went and hung out with the t3 guys. What limited your ability to perform faster: experince!!! i prob lost 2-3 min on the swim cuz I freaked out and it took me a while to get a grove so it makes me wonder what I would have done had I been out front? The bike I need to work on my speed and get faster. the run I think it is time to add speed work. i now have control of my breathing and stride. Not bad for my 1st OLY size Tri. cant wait to see what i can do with the 70.3 Event comments: not as cozy as Tremont but a very good race. well organized and everything flowed well. the water stations were great I love the Aloha one in the middle of the course if you ran the sprit you missed it. I liked the sponges. it was a nice touch. Last updated: 2009-06-29 12:00 AM
