Pre-race routine:

I really don't have a pre-race routine - I do have to have my banana, protien bar and gummy bears though :) other than that just making sure I have everything together and set up in the order I need it.
Swim
  • 13h 36m
  • 600 meters
  • 2h 16m / 100 meters
Comments:

This was my first open water swim and it was not as scary as I thought it would be. I did though get push, kicked, grabed, slapped and yeah all of the above lol. Though I know I did it to others too so!!!
What would you do differently?:

Not get caught in the middle of the pack and be more to the outside so I don't feel so congested in the water and can actually swim
Transition 1
  • 03m 35s
Comments:

Next I will make sure I have my bib belt so I don't have to deal with putting on a shirt with my # pinned to it. One broke and thats where I lost some of my time b/c I had to fix it.
What would you do differently?:

learn to leave my shoes clipped on the bike and sliding them on as I'm going.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 55s
  • 18 miles
  • 16.38 mile/hr
Comments:

the course had some challenging hills but I felt strong on them. I did get a little frustrated with the new riders drifting out and not communicating. Had one ride going up a hill dismount right in front of me and I about fell. Was amazed at how many times I was yelling out on your left :)
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Trans from bike to run went very well and smooth . . .
What would you do differently?:

learn to ride with feet on top of my shoes at the end to get off quicker and lower my trans time
Run
  • 29h 36m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 9h 31m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt okay - the first 1.5 my legs felt a little jelloish but most of the first part of the run was up hill. I did learn to shorten my stride which helped me fell stronger and not have to walk. The last 1.5 miles I kind of got my second wind and was feeling really strong :)
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

not really being prepared for the event since it was a last min entry :)

Event comments:

I'm glad I was able to participate in the Tri - it was my first open water tri and I had a blast and will do it again next year!!!
