Swim
Comments: Good swim for me. I swam in the pack for most of the course, so sighting wasn't as big of an issue as it usually is for me. What would you do differently?: Need to focus on sighting more. Other than that, I was fairly happy with swim results. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time going through transitions. My goal for this race was to focus on swim and bike. What would you do differently?: With more focus, I should be able to shave a minute or two off this transition time. Bike
Comments: Good ride for me. I paced off of heart rate, and that worked pretty well. While I'm definately not fast, the time on the bike is bringing slow steady improvement. I did have a mechanical issue with my left pedal, and could not get it clipped in. What would you do differently?: New pedals before Louisville? Transition 2
Comments: Again, my focus here was swim and bike, so I took it easy in transitions. I have speedplay pedals and unclipped, so I had quite a long jog in the bike shoes. Could definately pick up time by leaving shoes attached, except I copuldn't get my left shoe clipped in. Also wasted some time trying to get the garmin switched from bike to run mode. Run
Comments: Took the first mile very slow. Picked it up for mile 2, and went fairly hard for the third mile. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Planned on just letting the run happen, which worked fine. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and took in the sights until transition opened and they released bikes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Did not adjust training at all for this race. Had a 17-mile run on Friday that I was still feeling. Event comments: This race was an outstanding event, far and away the best run sprint distance race I've done. Give-aways were fantastic, and the orgnization was excellent. The only negative comment I have is that we didn't get marked with ages, so you couldn't tell if someone was in your wave when passing / being passed. Not a big deal, but I'd prefer to know! In the last year, I've been able to move to a decent middle of the pack position. I feel like I've made a lot of progress and have potential to make a lot more. I'd like to do this race again next year and shoot for a time in the upper 1:30's. Last updated: 2009-06-29 12:00 AM

Let town around 6:00. Some delays at parking, but was in transition by a few minutes after 7:00. All of the race traffic was well directed and lines were minimal.
I decided to do this race at the last minute, and didn't taper or change IM-Lou training for it. My goal for this race was to go hard (for me) on the bike and swim, and just let the run and transitions happen.
Got in the lake and swam a bit before start. Lake was warm, but not too hot.
