Swim
Comments: This was the most jostled I had been in any race! Fianlly got into a good rhythm and was swimming hard when a hand grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back! We looked at each other and she said sorry...LOL. Don't know how I swam such a fast time. Course maybe a little short? I felt like I was stopping/starting/changing direction all the time as I kept running into people or getting run into, but best race split I have had. What would you do differently?: Get luckier? - LOL. Try to find more open water. Maybe try to start at the head of the wave. Transition 1
Comments: Fast transition for me! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: My goal was 49:00 so hit it exactly!!! Also wanted to average over 21 MPH, so did that as well. Good ride for me, although I had a hard time along the back stretch staying focussed and pumping hard. Kinda cruised for aboue 3 miles (miles 12 -15 or so)...but took that time to recover a bit and drink some fluids, so maybe worked out for the best. What would you do differently?: Keep training on the bike and get more T.I.T.S. Transition 2
Comments: Very good transition for me! I got off bike running and kept it up to my tran area, got my running shoes on quickly, and ran hard out of the tran area. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Right calf problem right after mile 2. Major pain caused me to finally stop and stretch it for about 20 seconds. I easily lost 2 minutes on the run due to that and having to slow down. Bummer. I think I have an issue with my Plantaris tendon/muscle. It is a vestigal muscle (left over from days past like your appendix), and is a common problem for athletes over 40. It seems to crop up whenever I push the pace as I can jog no problem. What would you do differently?: Physical therapy??? Post race
Warm down: Met family, walked around and stetched calf some. Got water and snacks and a hot dog for my daughter. Watched friends finish and visited for a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need more time biking and need my calf muscles to stop hurting! Event comments: My favorite race so far! Overall goal was 1:35:00, so beat it. I did a 1:40:40 last year with very slow transitions, but improved in all areas. There were 332 finishers 421 entrants. Last updated: 2009-06-29 12:00 AM

Up at 6, two Eggo waffles, yogurt, coffee and water. Final checklist and out the door.
Got a good parking spot and pretty good Tran spot, checked in, got tires fully inflated, got gear settled, checked out the Transition area entries/exits, ate a banana and some gel, got suited up and went to Pre-race meeeting.
Walked about 1/2 mile, jogged some and stretched a little. Got into water and swam mabye 50 yards.
